City of Sacramento Adopts Advanced
Communications Systems in New 9-1-1 Center
Sacramento, California –
After years of careful planning and
execution, the Sacramento Police Department
unveiled its new 9-1-1 Communications Center
in August 2006. In keeping with its
state-of-the-art architecture, the agency
looked to PlantCML, the nation’s leader in
mission-critical communications, for the
best in emergency call taking and dispatch
systems.
Following thorough evaluation of the city’s
needs, PlantCML, in partnership with
Verizon, installed VESTA® M-1™ in the city’s
34,000+ square foot facility. VESTA M-1,
designed with advanced 9-1-1 centers in
mind, is an extremely cost-effective,
PBX-based Computer Telephony Integration
(CTI) solution from PlantCML. It delivers
intelligent call routing, Automatic Call
Distribution (ACD) and combined digital
voice/data communications. VESTA M-1 also
offers enhanced administrative
functionality, completely integrating the
systems for both emergency and admin calls.
The infrastructure includes a Meridian 1
Option 61C PBX and Contact Center Manager,
both from Nortel. Verizon provides voice and
data for 9-1-1 calls to the center, which
will be tracked with MagIC, a management
information system database from PlantCML.
The Sacramento Police Department has also
engaged PlantCML’s Managed Services Program
to enhance the overall integrity and
availability of the communications center
and its 40 workstations. Through this
service, the city’s systems will be
monitored remotely twenty-four hours a day,
with highly skilled PlantCML product experts
quickly identifying and resolving any
potential issue(s).
“The City of Sacramento has put a lot of
time and effort into furthering their crisis
communications capabilities,” says Tim
Fuller, PlantCML CEO. “It is a tremendous
honor to have PlantCML products installed
inside this impeccable facility and to be
part of such an outstanding program.”
